Motorola, Inc. and Wind River Systems today announced here of the formation of a tactical alliance with the sole intention to provide integrated AdvancedTCA® (ATCA®) and MicroTCA TM communication platforms with the Carrier Grade Linux and VxWorks runtimes. Motorola is renowned throughout the world for its innovative techniques and leadership in wireless and broadband communications. Being inspired by the vision of Seamless Mobility, the name of Motorola has become synonymous to get and stay connected simply and seamlessly to the people, information, and entertainment. The company excels in this by designing and delivering "must have" products, "must do" experiences, and powerful networks -- along with a full complement of support services. It has been affirmed through this agreement that henceforth the embedded communications computing business of Motorola and Wind River will work together for the delivery of the bundled hardware and software solutions for next-generation networking designs meant for the specific industries like telecom, military and aerospace, medical and industrial automation industries. It has also been affirmed that both the companies will provide joint customer support, in addition to teaming up on product development and also on driving joint value for industry initiatives that includes OpenSAF high availability software, virtualization technologies and development environments for multicore processors. Speaking on the occasion of this noble achievement Stephen Dow, the Vice President and General Manager, Embedded Communications Computing, Motorola, Inc. said, "Collaborating with an industry leader like Wind River demonstrates Motorola's commitment to extend the benefits of leading-edge, multicore technologies such as MicroTCA and AdvancedTCA to our joint customers.
