Motorola, Inc. the renowned frontrunner in wireless and broadband communications today announced here of the nomination of Dr. Simon Leung, the President of Motorola Asia-Pacific as the 'Darjah Setia Pangkuan Negeri (DSPN)', which carries the title "Dato'", on the 69 th birthday of Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Abdul Rahman Abbas in the month of July.
Motorola is renowned throughout the world for its innovative techniques and leadership in wireless and broadband communications. Being inspired by the vision of Seamless Mobility, the name of Motorola has become synonymous to get and stay connected simply and seamlessly to the people, information, and entertainment. The company excels in this by designing and delivering "must have" products, "must do" experiences, and powerful networks -- along with a full complement of support services. It has been learnt that with this bestowal from this day forward Dr. Leung shall be addressed as Dato' Dr. Simon Leung being the third foreigner within Motorola to receive this award for the sake of his sprawling contributions to the country of Malaysia. Prior to him the recipients of the award from Motorola were the former CEO and Chairman of Motorola, Chris Galvin and former Country President for Motorola Malaysia, Roger Betelson. Being in the designation of the President of Asia Pacific Dr. Leung has been accountable for the business of the Home and Networks Mobility in the specified region that is specially engaged in various activities of designing, manufacturing, selling and servicing of various devices like the wireline and wireless broadband access systems, as well as cellular infrastructure systems, to cable and satellite television operators, wireline carriers and wireless service providers. Dr. Leung is also the Chairman of Motorola China Electronic Limited. The chief reason of the conferring of this award has been his significant and incessant contribution in the International Advisory Panel (IAP) meetings that are organized by Multimedia Development Corporation Sdn Bhd. In the recent days he was also appointed as a Member of IAP for the Multimedia Super Corridor (MSC) by the Hon'ble prime Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. It has been perceived by the concerned experts in the business world that being a member he had been instrumental in sharing wide-ranging knowledge and also proficiency with the various echelons of the Malaysian Government especially in the subject of the development of the knowledge infrastructure and also the creation of talent for the country. |
