Circuit City World Cyber Games Mobile Tour Introduced

It has been reported that the Circuit City Stores, Inc., the leading specialty retailer of consumer electronics and related services through the introduction of the Circuit City World Cyber Games Mobile Tour will render the hometown owners with a final chance for the competition of the 56 "wildcard" spots. It has also been announced on the par of the Company that there shall also be a possibility to get qualified for the proficient competitors to qualify for e- Sports' largest and most prestigious video game tournament.

The Circuit City initiated its journey in 1949, when Samuel Wurtzel opened Virginia's first retail television store Ward's—Richmond with the sole objective of providing the community with a new technology for changing the face of consumer electronics forever. Within a period of 50 years the company with 643 stores and diversified business network is a Fortune 200 Company and the third largest consumer electronics retailer in the United States.  Circuit City's domestic segment operating in 12 other locations in the U.S. and its Superstores range in size from 15,000 to 45,000 square feet (1400 to 4000 m²) through an offering of a large selection of brand-name consumer electronics, personal computers and entertainment software. The Company's international segment is operated through over 800 retail stores and dealer outlets in Canada. It has been learnt in this regard, that the tour will be staged at the selected Circuit City Superstores from August 2-10, 2007. In addition, the champs from the Circuit City contests will be unable to go for the competition in one of four World Cyber Games (WCG) Regional Qualifying tournaments. It is to be noted, that the specific category of the other contestants in the Regional Qualifying tournaments has already been chosen through the online competitions. 

Being asked by the Press & Media the Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Circuit City Stores, Inc., Peter C. Weedfald said,   "Circuit City is proud to provide this opportunity for gamers to showcase their talents and earn a spot to compete in the World Cyber Games, the recognized blue chip leader for international video game competitions." "This is a wonderful opportunity to highlight the ever-growing popularity of video gaming, and Circuit City is thrilled to do our part as the premiere partner of the Games," he concluded.
