ESI Acquires New Wave Research

Electro Scientific Industries, Inc. the renowned provider of world-class photonic and laser micro-engineering systems today announced here of its completion of the acquisition of the New Wave Research or NWR, the well-known market leader in the sphere of wafer scribing and laser micromachining at an approximate value of $36 million net cash outlay.

ESI is a frontrunner and leading supplier of world-class production laser systems having the direction of aiding its microelectronics customers to attain compelling yield and productivity gains. From its commencement in 1944 the company's industry-leading, application-specific products has been engaged in concentrating and augmenting electronic-device performance in three key sectors like semiconductors, components and electronic interconnect. The aspiration has been to enable exactitude in fine-tuning of device microfeatures in high-volume manufacturing environments.

As already reflected in the July 12 earnings release for ESI, the viewpoint for NWR has been to add a supplementary $7 to $8 million in revenue from the date of close through the period that is going to end on September 29, 2007. In addition, the related gross margin for NWR is expected to be in the range of 45-50% before the impact of purchase-accounting adjustments. On the other hand according to the latest disclosure the operating expenses are expected to be within the range of 40% of revenue, that excludes the integration costs. What's more, there is information that the impression of purchase-accounting adjustments to the consolidated financial results is confirmed to be finalized by the end of September.

While talking to this correspondent on the success of the ESI, Nick Konidaris, the President and CEO of ESI said, "This is a significant achievement that will further the long-term growth of ESI. The expansion of our worldwide sales presence and enhanced service support network will allow us to better serve the needs of both ESI and NWR customers.
