Atmel® Corporation, the renowned organization in designing and manufacturing of microcontrollers and advanced logic has announced here today through a Press announcement of the availability of the AT91SC192192CT-USB, a FLASH based, ARM® SC100 powered, secure microcontroller. It has been known, that the AT91SC series is a family unit of low power, high-performance 32-bit RISC secure microcontroller with ROM or FLASH program memory, advanced EEPROM data memory and powerful cryptographic accelerators. In accordance with this, these products are highly proficient in targeting the applications that do require high computing power along with high-speed communication interfaces and seamless connection to very large memories.

Atmel, founded in 1984, is a renowned leader in the design and manufacture of microcontrollers, advanced logic, mixed-signal, nonvolatile memory and radio frequency (RF) components. The company through influencing one of the industry's broadest intellectual property (IP) technology portfolios, has been able to provide the electronics industry with complete system solutions. It is recorded as one of the minority elite new companies who are capable of incorporating dense nonvolatile memory, logic and analog functions on a single chip. The Atmel chips are manufactured through the usage of the most advanced wafer processes that includes BiCMOS, CMOS and Silicon Germanium or SiGe technologies. It is also found to be concentrating on consumer, industrial, security, communications, computing and automotive markets.

It has been found tat the new device is based on the ARM® SC100 CPU, the AT91SC192192CT-USB features 192 Kbytes of FLASH program memory, 192 Kbytes of high-performance EEPROM (fast erase/write time, high endurance) and 24 Kbytes of RAM. Along with this are also included the Full Speed USB 2.0 interface with 5 Endpoints, an SPI interface to communicate in an Embedded System environment or to connect to a NOR Flash and dedicated hardware to connect to a NAND Flash. The apparatus is for the most part well suited with the building of high-end secure e-Tokens that is destined to be used in the Embedded Systems, where it is highly applicable to operate as a Security Module for the prevention of hardware counterfeiting, store secure data, provide authentication services, process digital rights management etc.
