The Space Systems/Loral (SS/L), a subsidiary of Loral Space & Communications and the world's foremost provider of commercial telecommunications satellites, today announced here that Robert E. Berry, the Systems Fellow and former Chairman of SS/L, shall be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award in regard to his contributions to the satellite communications industry at the impending ISCe 2007 satellite conference in San Diego. On the behalf of the Loral Space & Communications it has been announced, that the Lifetime Achievement Award is one of three foremost awards that will be presented at the annual ISCe 2007 Awards Dinner Reception, to be taken place on Wednesday, June 6 in conjunction with the conference. The Loral Space & Communications is a satellite communications company. The company excels in owning and operating a fleet of telecommunications satellites, that are used to broadcast video entertainment programming, distribute broadband data, and provide access to Internet services and other value-added communications services. Loral is also acclaimed as an internationally renowned leader especially in the designing and manufacturing of satellites and satellite systems. Its designed and manufactured satellites and satellite systems are being used for commercial and government applications that include direct-to-home television, broadband communications, wireless telephony, weather monitoring and air traffic management. While being enquired by the Press & Media, David Bross, the Chairman of the ISCe Conference said, "An independent advisory board unanimously selected Bob Berry based on his significant accomplishments over the years. Bob was instrumental in building today's communications satellite industry and his early recognition of the importance of commercial satellites was fundamental to the industry's direction." It has been confirmed on the behalf of the Company that Robert E. Berry led SS/L and its precursor, Ford Aerospace, from 1977 to 2000 and, with his willingness to push innovative concepts, was responsible for some of the world's most advanced communications and meteorological satellite projects for defense, civil, and commercial applications. He cultivated the international market for U.S.-based satellite manufacturing, and under his leadership, SS/L developed the technologies that have put the company at the forefront in providing high-power satellites for direct-to-home television, satellite radio, broadband Internet and international fixed satellite services. In the year from 1977 to 1990 he worked as the General Manager of Ford Aerospace's Space Systems division and it was when Loral acquired Ford Aerospace & Communications Corporation he became the president of SS/L. In 1996 he was named the Senior Vice President of Loral Space & Communications, and it was the same year when the SS/L was awarded the Goddard Contractor Excellence Award in recognition of the company's achievements in quality and design. |
