The Home Depot(R), the world's largest home improvement retailer, today announced here that the Company is going to put forward all active duty personnel, reservists, retired military, veterans and their families a 10 percent discount off their purchases in the honor of Memorial Day. It has been stated, that the offer is valid on purchases of up to $2,000 for a maximum of $200 between May 24 and May 28, 2007, at The Home Depot stores, The Home Depot Landscape Supply(R) locations and EXPO Design Center(R) locations.

The Home DepotĀ® is the world's largest home improvement specialty retailer having 2,164 retail stores in all 50 states like in the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands, 10 Canadian provinces, Mexico and China. The Home Depot, through its HD SupplySM businesses, is also one of the largest diversified wholesale distributors in the United States scattered over 1,000 locations in the United States and Canada. The prime business of the company includes offering products and services for building, improving and maintaining homes, businesses and municipal infrastructures.

Speaking on the initiative the chairman & CEO of The Home Depot Frank Blake said, "The Memorial Day discount is an important way for our company to say thanks to the brave men and women who have served and currently serve in our armed forces. This holiday honors these heroic Americans and recognizes the tremendous sacrifices they make to protect our nation, and we at The Home Depot are proud to show our appreciation."

It has been clearly stated while the conference regarding the announcement was in full gear, that there should be a definite benchmark of qualification. To qualify, the individuals shall have to present proof of military service to the Special Services desk at any The Home Depot store. On the submission of the testimony they will be rendered with a very coupon valid at any cashier's checkout register. Discount coupons shall be valid on a single receipt and in-store purchase only. For the benefit of the consumers the details and exceptions shall be printed on the coupon.

While talking with the concerned officials of the Home Depot it was revealed that the discount offer was an extension of the Company's commitment in general towards advocating the cause of the military community. It is to be noted in this respect that in the last March, the Home Depot donated $1 million to the United Service Organizations (USO(R)) for the construction of new USO centers and the ongoing maintenance and capital upkeep of existing facilities. In the year 2006 the Home Depot was recognized as the Disabled American Veterans Largest Employer of the Year, and was felicitated with the President's National Hire Veterans Committee Chairman's Award.
