Lear Corporation and Dirac Research AB today announced here about their decision of displaying their latest innovations in premium sound systems for the automotive market. The display shall take place in Booth 1635 at the 2007 Audio Engineering Society's (AES) Pro Audio Expo and Convention in Vienna, Austria from May 5 - 8, 2007, it has been stated.

Lear Corporation as frontrunner of international suppliers of automotive interior systems and components provide complete seating systems, electronic products and electrical distribution systems. From its inception in 1917 in Detroit as American Metal Products and a manufacturer of tubular, welded and stamped assemblies for the automotive and aircraft industries has come a long way and with annual net sales of $17.1 billion it ranks #127 among the Fortune 500 in 2006. Since 1994 when Lear went public Lear has grown to meet the changing needs of the industry with 18 major acquisitions since 1994, when Lear went public.

It has been decided, that the Premium Sound System of Lear's in-show display vehicle will feature the trend-setting digital room correction technology Dirac Live™ that has been developed by Dirac Research AB. The Dirac Live™ technology has recently hit global roads as a feature of Lear's latest digital full class D audio amplifier that is currently available in the BMW M5 (also available with regular 5 series and M6 vehicles). A recent sound system review by the German magazine "Auto Motor und Sport named the sound in the new BMW M5 "with respect to stereo sound, the most impressive car stereo system in the world".

Dirac Live™ is a digital filter technology that excels in the optimization of staging, clarity and tonal balance through the enhancement of the sound system impulse response in all seats and by the means of application of a desired branded sound identity. The final result is a sound system with sophisticated tailoring of the audio signal to the complete sound system's acoustical properties delivering an in-vehicle sound experience with unsurpassed audio performance.

The joint Lear/Dirac display will be equipped so as to make possible for the visitors to switch between automatically optimized Dirac Live™ FIR (finite impulse response) and manually tuned IIR (infinite impulse response) filters in real time, while allowing a side-by-side comparison in the advancements in filter design technology and an audible perception of improved performance levels.

The consultants of both Lear and Dirac, in addition, will be available during the show for the sake of explaining and demonstrating the technology to interested visitors.
