It has been reported that the Circuit City Stores, Inc., the leading specialty retailer of consumer electronics and related services today honored vendors for their excellences in the trading activities. It has been stated, that those vendors were honored who try to put customer as the topmost priority before all other factors. This mood was reiterated while the demonstration of "best in class" performance as an intrinsic element of the Fifth Annual Circuit City Vendor Recognition Awards was in full gear. The Circuit City initiated its journey in 1949, when Samuel Wurtzel opened Virginia's first retail television store Ward's—Richmond with the sole objective of providing the community with a new technology for changing the face of consumer electronics forever. Within a period of 50 years the company with 643 stores and diversified business network is a Fortune 200 Company and the third largest consumer electronics retailer in the United States. Circuit City's domestic segment operating in 12 other locations in the U.S. and its Superstores range in size from 15,000 to 45,000 square feet (1400 to 4000 m²) through an offering of a large selection of brand-name consumer electronics, personal computers and entertainment software. The Company’s international segment is operated through over 800 retail stores and dealer outlets in Canada. The escalating scenario of business confides the Circuit City in developing its technologies and solutions to make life easier and enjoyable through latest technological innovations. The awards were split into two categories of merchandising vendor excellence and supply chain excellence. It has been found according to the Circuit City, that the ten vendors chosen for the 2006 Merchandising Vendor Excellence Award aptly showed a commitment to the parent company along with its customers through focusing on the growth of the business relationship, supply chain performance, product profitability and year-over-year impact on Circuit City's revenue. In addition, the thirteen vendors honored with the 2006 Supply Chain Excellence Award have also been found in sustaining a consistent delivery performance in a flexible consumer environment through a reduction in cost of the supply chain while ensuring delivery of scheduled products. |
